Prof. Maurice Tucker

/images/masters/Maurice Tucker.jpgMaurice Tucker was Master of University College from 1998 to 2011.

He graduated from Durham University in 1968 with a degree in Geology, having been a member of University College. After teaching in Sierra Leone, Cardiff, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Berkley, California, Maurice joined the Geology department at Durham University as a lecturer in 1982. He later became Professor and Chairman of the Geological Sciences Department, before taking up his post as Master of University College in 1998.

Maurice left University College in 2011 to continue his research in the field of sedimentology (specifically, limestones) at Bristol University. As is traditional, Maurice maintains a connection to the College's alumni community through the post of Honorary Vice-President of the Durham Castle Society.
