The 1072 Club

Durham Castle was built in 1072 under the reign of William the Conqueror. Since then the Castle has become much more than a defensive fortress; it has played the role of Palace, and now College. The 1072 Club is a celebration of this rich history and tradition, a reminder that all Castlemen have been part of a truly unique experience and one that they can relive through joining The 1072 Club.

The aim of the Club is to support the development of Castle as a thriving community and to provide the College with a sustainable future.

Why should I join?

Whether you left Castle 5 or 50 years ago, you remain a member of a unique community. The 1072 Club is a great opportunity to strengthen ties between alumni and the College and continue to have an impact on the community. The funds raised by the Club will support three key areas: hardship and scholarship funds, extra-curricular activities, and the fabric and heritage of Durham Castle.

You can find out about the different tiers of 1072 Club membership below.
