Events
Every year University College organises a range of virtual and in-person events for our friends and alumni, to help bring our community together. This is a great opportunity to meet with your old friends or make new ones. Our events are open to everyone – whether you studied with us last year or 50 years ago!
University College Reunion Weekend
17th – 19th July 2026
We warmly invite you to join us for a truly special Alumni Reunion weekend, celebrating the enduring spirit of Durham and the unique community of University College. Whether you graduated in recent years or many decades ago, this is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, reflect on your time at Castle, and relive cherished memories in a setting that has shaped generations.
The weekend will feature a series of thoughtfully curated events, from a nostalgic afternoon tea at the historic Lumley Castle to an elegant formal dinner in the Castle’s magnificent Great Hall. Every moment is designed to foster connection, celebrate shared experiences, and honour the remarkable legacy of our College community. We look forward to welcoming you back to Castle for a weekend of inspiration, friendship, and celebration across the years.
University College Chapel Choir Concert
University College and University College Chapel Choir warmly invite you to a concert in memory of a formidable University College alumnus, David Knowles.
The programme will feature a selection of music by Beech, Bairstow, Purcell and Rowath, from the Chapel Choir’s recent CD recording efforts, under the direction of our Director of Music, Barney Howard.
This occasion offers an opportunity for our supporters, alumni and friends to gather in the historic setting of St Bartholomew’s Church and share in an evening of musical reflection and celebration.
The concert will be followed by a drinks reception in the Church.
This is a free event, but as we have a limited number of spaces available, pre-booking is essential.
Date: Monday 22 September
Time: 7 - 9pm
Location: St Bartholomew the Great, Cloth Fair, London, EC1A 7JQ
Dress code: Since the concert will be held in a church, we encourage guests to dress in a way that's appropriate for the venue - smart casual or modest clothing is appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for the 75th Castle Society Reunion in April! It was wonderful to see so many of you.
We are always looking for volunteers who would like to help by organising events for Castle and Durham alumni locally or by providing venues for alumni gatherings in London or other cities in the UK or abroad. If you feel that this might be something you might be able to offer, please let us know.
